Meet Robert and Stephen
Robert
McCartney Healthcare Associates founder and solicitor Robert McCartney first started working in hospitals when he was just 18. His passion for healthcare stayed with him as he studied for his degree and since qualifying as a solicitor he has more than six years’ experience working in the industry.
Previous roles as an in-house solicitor and senior manager for one of the largest community health providers in the country and one of the biggest providers of GP, urgent care and associated services have given Robert a unique insight into the challenges facing primary care providers.
In an environment where the demands on services are increasing and stretching resources to their limits, Robert’s expertise supports practices with innovative, focused solutions to deliver new ways of working that are as good for patient care as they are for your business.
Stephen
Stephen has been a nurse for over 40 years with roles including Director of Nursing and Director for Quality at various organisations. He joined us from IC24 where he oversaw quality for their GP Out of Hours and 111 services in Kent.
Stephen has a passion for urgent care and how it integrates with primary care. This is based on his history of working within A&E and for urgent care providers across the country. He has developed several performance and governance frameworks focused on this specialty. Between 2009 and 2013, he worked with LCW where he co-wrote and designed the St Charles Hospital and Chelsea & Westminster Urgent Care Centres and was seconded to the Westminster PCT to develop the governance for one of the first London 111 pilots.
Stephen was previously the Director of Quality for a large primary care provider where he provided governance support to over 50 GP practices and urgent care services. He co-wrote, mobilised and managed the Dudley Urgent Care Centre which improved the A&E’s 4-hour performance from one of the worst in the country to one of the best whilst converting over 40% of the A&E ambulatory caseload to the urgent care stream.
Stephen supports other organisations in developing and helping to drive the integration of services on behalf of our clients.
